Pereira Cycles’ Security Assist

The 2009 Constructor’s Design Challenge inspired some sleek solutions around transportation bikes, with none more clever than the integrated security system (patent pending) on first place winner Tony Pereira’s entry. The integrated U-lock system, when in place on the bike, can encircle any vertical pole up to 3 inches in diameter (a typical bike staple and beyond) and locks the steering, which handily serves to stabilize the front rack and load when the bike is freestanding. Removed from the the bike, the lock stows away in a special pocket of the custom rack bag. Nicely done, Mr. Pereira.
